Employees also have the option to Opt Out (waive) medical/prescription drug if they are covered by another employer sponsored health plan. You must be able to provide proof of your other coverage. In return, employees will be paid an annual amount of $400 for waiving medical/prescription drug coverage for the plan year. The amount paid will be prorated based on your eligibility date. Payment will be made in equal installments based on the number of paychecks you receive during the year, and the amount paid is considered taxable income for W2 purposes. If you elect to participate in the opt out program, and then lose your other health coverage, there are special re-enrollment provisions that apply to you and your dependents. You must request re-enrollment in writing through the Benefit Center within 30 days of the loss of other health coverage in order to re-enter Piston Automotive health plan. If you do not elect to participate in the opt out program at this time, you may not change your election until our next open enrollment period, unless you experience a qualified life change event.
